Designer Information
  • Rodolfo Dordoni received a degree in Architecture from Milan’s Politecnico University in 1979.
  • In addition to being an architect, Dordoni is also a talented industrial designer of furniture and accessories. He has worked with renowned manufactures such as Artemide, Crassevig, Moroso, Cappelini International and Arteluce.
  • Dordoni has been collaborating with Dolce & Gabbana since 1995; he designed their headquarters in Milan as well as showrooms and boutiques all over the world.
  • His design aesthetic is known for its formal stringency, elegance, essentiality and innovative details.
Design and Function
  • The Barrique kitchen puts itself and its contents on display using striking combinations that include the transparency of colored glass with choice natural stones, or the warmth of wood with high-tech industrial steels.
  • The design was inspired by the fine tradition of Italian wining and dining - Barrique means wine barrel in French.
Display Structure
  • The glass-fronted cabinets set in thin aluminum framing serve to display as well as store.
  • Wood paneling with projecting pegs create a wine cellar effect.
  • Mirror panels above the worktop and inside wall cabinets create reflective effects.
Design Features
  • The wine theme extends to design elements - the glass doors are called Decanter or Verre and are available in “Merlot” or “Pinot.”
  • The Canaletto walnut panels compliment the marble or satin-finish steel worktops
  • The worktop is available in Corian® or marble.
  • The pantry is available in two widths - single or double - and is made of a thick bleached Canaletto walnut frame, stocked with wooden shelves and internal lighting.
  • An innovative audio system creates an “invisible sound,” with hi-fi sound emitted through the large surfaces of the wall panels and/or worktops.
